Liminality

This is probably tied for being my favorite picture that I shot while in D.C, taken while driving out of the Shenandoah's. There was something so isolated and lonely about this old barn. The haze in the backgroud was obscuring the mountains and the doorway seemed to jump out at me. A former professor recently wrote to me of liminality, coming from the Latin for "threshold," signifying a doorway, an opening, a time of growth and transformation. This doorway gave me a tangible expression of what I had been seeking, and while I have not walked through any door, I have seen one.
